Nelson County approves mileage rate, licenses, agreements, budget amendments and abatements

The Nelson County Commissioners approved a series of routine administrative and financial actions during their Jan. 7 meeting.
The board accepted the 2022 state mileage reimbursement rate of $0.585. Moved by Commissioner Fougner and seconded by Commissioner Loibl, the motion passed unanimously. The county also approved liquor and beer licenses for the Lakota Golf Course following a motion by Commissioner Johnson and a second by Commissioner Loibl; that motion carried.
The board accepted and signed the 2022 Veteran Service Officer Joint Powers Agreement with Ramsey and Benson counties for 2022. Commissioners approved the 2021 Schedule of Budget Amendments presented by Auditor Jenny Wigen and approved transferring funds from County General to Law Enforcement.
Michelle Linstad presented several tax abatements — on parcels 21-0005-46710-700, 16-0000-04815-000, 28-0000-08044-100 and 32-0001-79093-000 — and the board approved those abatements. The board also moved to pay all bills as listed and recorded the motion as carried on roll call.
In other business noted during routine items, Bernadette Matejcek presented the county’s pledged securities; Keith Olson presented calls-for-service statistics (138 calls in December, 2,400 for 2021); Angela Herda reported on Spelling Bee and MATHCOUNTS planning and stated Influenza A is circulating in local schools; and Amber Stockeland of the NDSU Extension Office said she will resign effective Jan. 14, 2022.
