Nelson County commissioners adopt load restrictions, approve Safe Kids grant signature and other routine measures

Nelson County Commissioners voted March 8 to adopt a county load-restriction resolution, authorize the chairman to sign a Safe Kids grant application as the jurisdiction representative, approve property tax abatements and pay listed county bills.
Chairman Nancy Marquart called the meeting to order at 10:00 a.m. and the board handled a set of routine motions early in the session. Commissioner Cody Johnson moved and Commissioner Don Fougner seconded approval of the Feb. 8 minutes; the motion carried unanimously.
Commissioner Steve Forde moved and Commissioner Cody Johnson seconded adoption and signing of a resolution implementing load restrictions in Nelson County. All members voted “Yes.” The board also approved sending unclaimed property foreclosure sale proceeds to the North Dakota Department of Trust Lands after a unanimous vote.
Commissioner Don Fougner moved and Commissioner Steve Forde seconded a resolution allowing the State’s Attorney to run in both Nelson and Griggs counties in the upcoming election; the board approved the resolution unanimously.
Chairman Marquart discussed a Safe Kids grant application through the North Dakota Department of Transportation and said the county was asked to sign as the jurisdiction representative. Carma Hanson, identified in the meeting as the Safe Kids project coordinator, presented the grant; Commissioner Cody Johnson moved and Commissioner Don Fougner seconded a motion authorizing Chairman Marquart to sign the application. The vote was unanimous.
Michelle Linstad presented abatements on parcels 21-0001-46209-000, 21-0005-46710-700 and 02-0001-11201-500. Commissioner Don Fougner moved and Commissioner Cody Johnson seconded approval of the abatements; all members voted yes.
Commissioner Cody Johnson moved and Commissioner Steve Forde seconded payment of all listed bills; on roll call all members voted yes and the motion carried. With no further business the board adjourned.
