Nelson County to use $806,817 from HB1505 for road projects; highway crew adds ice-cutting blades

Seth Hamre, representing the highway department, said crews have been focused on snow removal on county and township roads. To improve winter traction, he said the department will pick up one set of ice-cutting blades for a grader now and order additional sets later; the blades cut grooves in ice to help sand and salt adhere.
Paul Bjornson of KLJ reviewed potential projects across the county and said Nelson County received $806,817 from HB1505 to use for road projects. The board did not take additional action on specific projects at the meeting; staff and engineers will return with project plans and timelines for use of the HB1505 funding.
Next steps: highway staff will prioritize urgent winter maintenance, order ice-cutting blades, and coordinate with KLJ on specific projects to be funded from HB1505.
