Nelson County Commissioners voted June 3 to authorize Highway Department staff to purchase two replacement trucks at the North Dakota Department of Transportation sale in Bismarck on June 8.
Commissioner Cody Johnson moved and Commissioner Don Fougner seconded the motion to have Seth Hamre purchase two trucks; one truck will be paid from the Road & Bridge fund and the other from ARPA funds. On a roll-call vote all members present voted "Yes," and the motion carried.
County staff had reported the highway department is actively repairing washouts and culverts, that county roads are open while some township roads remain closed, and that weight limits had been lifted. The county intends to replace two older 1988 trucks the highway department uses.
The board also received a presentation from Paul Bjornson of KLJ (attendance noted) and heard other routine highway updates but took no additional action on road projects at this meeting.
