Argo council appoints junior council and park-and-recreation board members

The City of Argo City Council unanimously approved a slate of junior council members and filled multiple vacancies on the Argo Park and Recreation Board at its Feb. 23, 2026, regular meeting.

Mayor Pro-Tem Corky Massey moved to approve the junior council applicants; Councilperson Mike King seconded. The council voted by roll call — Griffin, Suggs, Hopkins, King, Massey and Mayor Randy Hettich — and the motion carried. The appointed junior council members are Morgan Blake; Drew Bradley; Brooke Dorer; Audrey Dulin; Simonetta Esparza; Bryant Hall; Mollie Jackson; Seth Kay; Brayden Massey; Taylor Peppers; Parker Smith; and Emili Zamora.

Council members then filled seats on the Argo Park and Recreation Board. Councilperson Rick Hopkins moved to appoint Alicia Vincent, seconded by Councilperson Mike King; Council approved the motion. Mayor Pro-Tem Massey moved to appoint Cynthia Higdon, seconded by Councilperson Hopkins; Council approved the motion. Councilperson King moved to appoint Andrea Hall, seconded by Councilperson Dennis Griffin; Council approved the motion. Councilperson Hopkins moved to appoint Jerry Chiarella, seconded by Councilperson King; Council approved the motion. Councilperson King moved to appoint Myron ("Rusty") Allen, seconded by Councilperson Hopkins; Council approved the motion. Mayor Pro-Tem Massey moved to appoint Howard Hartley, seconded by Councilperson King; Council approved the motion. All appointment motions were adopted by unanimous roll-call votes.

The appointments were routine municipal business to fill youth engagement and parks-board roles; the minutes do not record discussion of candidates' qualifications or terms. The council did not record dissenting votes or abstentions on the appointments.

The council will proceed with the usual onboarding and scheduling for new board and junior council members according to city practice.
