Northumberland supervisors approve drainage easement, ask VDOT to add Forest Green Rd to state secondary system

The Northumberland County Board of Supervisors on March 2 approved a drainage easement for Forest Green Subdivision and passed a Rural Addition Resolution asking the Virginia Department of Transportation to add Forest Green Rd to the Secondary System of State Highways.
Vice Chairman James W. Brann presided as County Administrator Luttrell Tadlock recapped prior work with VDOT and said residents of Forest Green had worked with VDOT representative David Beale on required paperwork. Supervisor Chip Williams moved to approve the drainage easement; Supervisor Keith Harris seconded and the motion carried unanimously.
The resolution, adopted pursuant to §33.2-335 of the Code of Virginia, identifies Forest Green Rd (Forest Green Locksley Hall) as 0.265 miles in length with a guaranteed right-of-way width of 50 feet and cites a VDOT cost estimate of $160,000 for required improvements. The Board specified that the funds would come from SSYP Telefees and agreed to reimburse VDOT within 45 days for utility relocation costs or improvements that exceed the estimate, or otherwise identify eligible department-administered funds to cover such costs.
Motion text and a recorded vote show the motion to forward the Rural Addition Resolution was made by Supervisor Keith Harris, seconded by Supervisor Chip Williams, and carried with supervisors James W. Brann, Chip Williams, AC Fisher, Jr., and Keith Harris voting aye.
The resolution states the plat for Forest Green Locksley Hall was recorded March 11, 1960 (Plat Book 1, Page 208). As required by the resolution, a certified copy will be sent to the VDOT Residency Administrator after the County records the drainage easement.
What happens next: The Board passed the resolution contingent on the easement being recorded; once recorded, the County will forward the resolution to VDOT and the department will proceed with design and construction per its process and funding availability.
