Mayor Joe Lee opened the meeting at 6:01 p.m. and the council recorded two absences: Lynn Taylor and Matt Morris. Council members moved and seconded a series of motions that each passed by unanimous vote of those present.
The council authorized the city to post and hire two police officer positions to replace a retiring officer (Stephen Kaylor) and an officer who resigned; the new hires are slated to begin after Sept. 19, 2023. Reece Smith presented that personnel request; Council Member Linda Crowe moved approval and Council Member Ellis Key seconded.
