Moody City Council approves routine purchases, trainings, subscriptions and ALDOT maintenance agreement

At its Jan. 8 meeting the Moody City Council unanimously approved a series of routine items including ammunition and software purchases, training travel, a library subscription renewal, updates to the municipal code online, and an ALDOT traffic-signal maintenance agreement.
The Moody City Council voted unanimously on Jan. 8, 2024, to approve a slate of routine municipal items, including purchases, training attendance, personnel advertising and an agreement with the Alabama Department of Transportation.
Actions approved included: purchase of department ammunition from Gulf States Distributors for $3,259.00 (budget 01-513-2003); authorization for all School Resource Officers to attend summer TASRO training with county reimbursement, not to exceed $7,000 (budget 01-513-4400); travel and lodging up to $1,500 for Chief Smith and Lieutenant Melton to attend Alabama Chiefs of Police Executive Training (01-513-1500); declaration of a Gimbal Mounted Vision IR FLIR system as surplus; payment of $15,070.00 to Locality Media Inc. for annual reporting software (01-514-3000); renewal of the Heritage Quest Online subscription through ProQuest/Clarivate for $1,208.62 (01-519-7200); an update to the online municipal code via CivicPlus for $4,156; authorization to advertise and hire for a vacant police officer position; and approval for Mike Staggs to attend the Alabama State Parks Trail Master Certification course at a cost not to exceed $2,100 (01-517-1500).
Council also approved Resolution R2024-01-08B, an agreement with ALDOT concerning traffic signals at I‑20 and Kelly Creek Road and related maintenance responsibilities. Motions were moved, seconded and carried by unanimous vote where recorded; the minutes record each item as passed by the full council present.
