Moody City Council unanimously approves vehicle repair, hires part‑time library assistant, appoints planning commissioner and adopts 20‑year plan

The Moody City Council met Sept. 25, 2023, and approved several routine and policy items by unanimous vote.
Mayor Joe Lee called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. and recorded a full roll call. The council first approved the published agenda on a motion by Council Member Linda Crowe, seconded by Council Member Nick Rutledge, and then approved the minutes of the Sept. 11, 2023 meeting on a motion by Council Member Ellis Key, seconded by Council Member Lynn Taylor.
The council approved five substantive items during the business portion of the meeting. First, Reece Smith requested authorization to repair the transmission in a 2018 Chevrolet Tahoe. The council approved the repair to be performed by AAMCO at a stated cost of $5,500, charged to budget line 01‑513‑4502; the motion to approve was made by Council Member Nick Rutledge, seconded by Council Member Lynn Taylor, and carried unanimously.
Second, the council authorized staff to advertise and hire a part‑time Library Assistant position at 19 hours per week. Sara Roberts presented the request; Council Member Matt Morris moved to approve, Council Member Linda Crowe seconded, and the motion passed unanimously.
Third, the council approved the appointment of Mike Martin to the Moody Planning Commission. David Crowe presented the appointment; Council Member Linda Crowe moved to approve and Council Member Nick Rutledge seconded. The vote was unanimous.
Fourth, the council adopted Resolution R2023‑09‑25, authorizing the allocation of funds to promote education and commercial growth in Moody. Mayor Joe Lee introduced the resolution; Council Member Nick Rutledge moved to approve and Council Member Matt Morris seconded. The motion carried by unanimous vote.
Fifth, the council adopted Resolution R2023‑09‑25A, formally adopting the 2023 20‑Year Comprehensive Plan titled "Moody at the Crossroads." Mayor Lee presented the plan and the resolution; Council Member Nick Rutledge moved to approve, Council Member Lynn Taylor seconded, and the resolution passed unanimously.
The meeting was closed at 6:08 p.m. on a motion by Mayor Lee, who stated there was no further business.
