"Will we exclude those students from school? If so, for how long? And while they are excluded, who will teach them?" Jones asked, saying she feared the district could lose Average Daily Attendance funding and that teachers would be pressed to provide additional instruction for excluded students. Jones said she was not speaking for or against testing or vaccination but urged the board to weigh the operational impacts on instruction and student access.
The testing mandate was listed as information/discussion item 6.A on the agenda; the board did not take a formal vote on a testing requirement during the special meeting. Board members approved the meeting agenda and proceeded through action items before listing the COVID testing matter for discussion.
