Resident Superior Court Judge Gregory R. Hayes administered the oath of office for Sean Hovis, who was introduced by Mayor Eddie Haupt and sworn in as Newton’s new City Manager during the May 2 council meeting at Newton City Hall.
Mayor Eddie Haupt introduced Judge Hayes and noted the ceremonial swearing-in as part of the meeting’s opening. Following the swearing-in, City Manager Sean Hovis delivered the city’s fiscal 2023-24 budget message to the council and staff; the mayor and council thanked Hovis and city staff for preparing the budget materials.
The swearing-in was included in the formal meeting record; supporting documentation is on file in the Office of the City Clerk.
