The School District 25 board approved two instructional and program actions: adoption of new middle school science textbooks and approval of the Head Start continuation grant package.
Amy Bowie presented the middle school science textbook adoption committee’s recommendation to adopt Amplify Science by Amplify Education. Bowie said the selection followed committee review and unit development work to ensure equity and consistency across buildings; a motion to adopt Amplify Science 2020 passed by voice vote.
AJ summarized the Head Start 2025–26 continuation grant application along with two annual waivers: a non-federal share waiver and a bus monitor transportation waiver. The board approved the grant package, the self-assessment and selection criteria, and the waivers by motion and voice vote.
Sue reviewed revisions to the parent/guardian universal consent and acknowledgement form, noting that suggestions from the March work session were incorporated and highlighted. Trustees approved the revised form to be used for kindergarten registration and related processes.
Board members thanked the teachers, parents, and committee members who participated in the textbook review process and emphasized the importance of clear communication to families about curriculum and Head Start program operations.
Administrators will proceed with implementation steps for the chosen curriculum, submit the Head Start application materials as approved, and finalize the consent form for registration.
