Bay Minette council approves resolutions, facility namings and finance items in brief meeting

The Bay Minette City Council met Oct. 19, 2020, at City Hall and unanimously approved a series of routine measures, including a police training request, accounts payable and several resolutions affecting local facilities and events.
Mayor Robert A. Wills called the meeting to order at 6 p.m.; Councilmember John Biggs led the Pledge of Allegiance. The council approved a proclamation recognizing Chamber of Commerce Week 2020 after a motion from Councilmember Mike Phillips and a second from Councilmember Shannon Clemmons.
The council approved the consent agenda, which included minutes from the Oct. 5 meeting, monthly reports and a training request for Police Officer Jacob Stewart to attend the Alabama Advanced Criminal Justice Academy in Montgomery from Nov. 16, 2020, through Feb. 23, 2021, at a stated cost of $7,595.00. Councilmember William Taylor moved the consent agenda and Councilmember Anne Corbett seconded; the motion carried unanimously.
Councilmembers approved payables totaling $153,440.14 after a motion from Councilmember Mike Phillips and a second from Councilmember William Taylor.

Mayor Wills also reported that city employees were working with Crowder Gulf on Hurricane Sally debris cleanup.
Before adjourning, Mayor Wills recognized outgoing Councilmember Anne Corbett for one year of service and Councilmember John Biggs for twelve years of service. Councilmember John Biggs moved to adjourn, Councilmember Anne Corbett seconded and the meeting was adjourned.
The council took no recorded dissenting votes; all motions were reported as unanimously carried in the minutes.
