Mackinac County commissioners approve sidewalk, courtroom remodel contracts and multiple bills and budget amendments

The board selected Clark Contracting for sidewalk repairs, approving a $14,000 contract after noting prior difficulty contacting the lower bid. The board also approved a contract for circuit courtroom remodel work with Sidock Group as the engineering firm and Clark Contracting as project manager after presentations and questions from Clark Contracting representatives.
The board approved regular bills totaling $46,225.65 and manual bills of $23,226.27, and approved two additional bill batches of $161,303.84 and $147,493.91. Each payment motion passed unanimously among the three commissioners present (Yes: Kaiser, Patrick, St. Louis-Scott; Absent: Clark, Litzner). The board also approved budget amendments #2024.19, #2024.20, #2024.22, #2024.23 and #2024.24; amendment #2024.21 was tabled for later consideration.
Commissioner discussion referenced the bids and procurement outreach: Clark Contracting was chosen for the sidewalk work in part because the lower bidder, Winberg Masonry, did not return calls after prior contact attempts. Court Administrator Heather Wilk presented the courtroom remodel bids; Craig Froggett and Fred Ganyon of Clark Contracting answered technical questions.
The meeting record shows all contractual approvals and bill payments were passed by roll call with unanimous votes among those present. The meeting adjourned at 6:19 p.m.
