The Moody City Council on Dec. 12 approved a range of routine departmental items and small contracts during a short meeting called to order by Mayor Joe Lee.
Council approved replacing two intersections’ street lights with LED fixtures and approved traffic-light repairs at County Road 10 and Hwy 411, both with vendor Stone and Sons (combined cost $5,035.46 charged to the street repair account 01-522-6000). The council also approved surplus declarations for two older pickup trucks (1992 Dodge D150 VIN 1B7GE16Y4NS618047; 1994 Chevrolet C1500 VIN 1GCDC14H3RZ150594).
The council approved vehicle maintenance for car #353 (fuel injectors and heater hose plus tires), a $813 vendor payment to Moody Auto, and a $720 payment to Central Communications for car radar certifications. The council approved a $20,774.98 payment to Vetted Security for a license plate reader; the minutes note this item is funded by a full grant awarded to the Moody Police Department and that the city will be reimbursed once payment is made. The council also approved purchasing a playground crawl tube ($1,108.42, Struthers Recreation) and a $722.03 repair for football lighting (Poe Electric). All approvals listed in the minutes passed by recorded unanimous vote except the approval of the Nov. 14 minutes, where Council Member Lynn Taylor abstained.
Motions were moved and seconded by council members as recorded in the minutes; the meeting closed at 6:14 p.m. The minutes were later attested by Mayor Joe Lee and City Clerk Tracy L. Patterson on Jan. 9, 2023.
