Moody council OKs helmets, library subscription, travel, senior-center equipment and telework upgrades

Moody City Council voted unanimously on a package of routine operational items during its Jan. 23 meeting, approving purchases and authorizations for the fire department, library, senior center and city staff travel.
Council Member Linda Crowe moved to purchase fire helmets from vendor EEP at a cost of $1,650 (budgeted to account 01-514-5400); Council Member Lynn Taylor seconded, and the motion carried by unanimous vote. The council then approved renewal of the Atriuum library subscription from Book Systems, Inc. at $2,285 after a motion by Nick Rutledge and second by Matt Morris.
Council Member Linda Crowe also moved to authorize travel for Andrea Machen to attend a retail conference in Las Vegas in May 2023 at a cost not to exceed $3,200 (budgeted to 01-510-1500); the motion was seconded by Ellis Key and approved unanimously. The council approved a Senior Center purchase (Wii game and TV, vendors Walmart and Sam's Club) at not more than $1,000 and approved up to $5,000 in telework and workplace-safety equipment and remodeling for the upstairs City Hall conference room to be funded from American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) monies.

The council also approved the published meeting agenda and the minutes of Jan. 9, 2023 (the record states that Nick Rutledge abstained on the minutes approval). The minutes include a clerical inconsistency in the section approving the Jan. 9 minutes where the motion text reads "to approve the agenda"; the recorded vote and item context indicate the council intended to approve the Jan. 9 minutes.
