Moody City — The Moody City Council on April 24, 2023, approved the promotion of Police Officer James Ko to sergeant and authorized the purchase of three pet-waste stations for the city park, while approving the published agenda and the April 10 meeting minutes (one abstention).
Mayor Joe Lee called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m.; Council Member Matt Morris was recorded absent on roll call. The council voted to approve the published agenda on a motion by Council Member Ellis Key, seconded by Council Member Lynn Taylor, with all present voting AYE.
The council then moved to approve the April 10, 2023 minutes. Council Member Lynn Taylor moved to approve and Council Member Ellis Key seconded. The minutes were approved with all present voting AYE except Council Member Nick Rutledge, who abstained.
A scheduled public comment by Joel Wallace (listed as representing Oh Sherri Pub) was cancelled and was not presented to the council.
On personnel business, Reece Smith presented a request to promote Police Officer James Ko to the rank of sergeant. Council Member Nick Rutledge moved to approve the promotion; Council Member Ellis Key seconded. The motion carried with all present voting AYE.
On parks business, Mike Staggs presented a request to purchase three pet-waste stations for the city park from vendor Dog Waste Depot at a total cost of $936.00. The expense was noted as budgeted to Park/Grounds account 01-551-1000. Council Member Linda Crowe moved to approve the purchase; Council Member Nick Rutledge seconded and the motion carried by unanimous voice vote.
Mayor Joe Lee moved to close the meeting at 6:02 p.m.; the meeting concluded. The minutes bear signatures attesting approval on May 8, 2023.
