Little Egg Harbor Township board approves routine finance, facilities and personnel items and honors students of the month

The Little Egg Harbor Township Board of Education approved a slate of routine finance, facilities, personnel and superintendent non‑personnel items at its meeting, and recognized students of the month from district schools.

After presentations and the superintendent’s report, the board conducted roll‑call votes approving finance items a through f, a facilities item, school business‑administrator non‑personnel items a through d, amended personnel items, and superintendent non‑personnel items. The chair declared each motion carried following roll‑call confirmation.

The meeting opened with committee scheduling and brief community announcements, including praise for volunteers and organizers of a recent cupcake contest and the district’s Wildcat Shack program.

Presenters recognized student‑of‑the‑month honorees from George J. Mitchell and Frog Pond schools and others; board members and attendees offered congratulations. During public comment, community members thanked teachers and asked families to obey traffic rules near buses — “do not drive through the middle of the buses,” one commenter urged.

The superintendent reminded families to update emergency contact information in the Genesis portal, announced that June 19 and June 20 will be makeup days under the 2024–25 calendar, and reiterated district protocols limiting nonlocal law‑enforcement entry to schools to instances with a judicial warrant, court order, subpoena or exigent circumstances.

There was discussion about calendar alignment with neighboring districts and the challenges working parents face during teacher convention week; the superintendent said the district is exploring childcare and other options but that liability and logistics remain constraints. The board closed with routine reminders about bios and financial disclosures for new members and adjourned the meeting.
