Chase County approves tax strikes, signs inmate-housing agreement and appoints hospital trustee

During routine business at the Feb. 24 Chase County commissioners meeting, the board approved several administrative actions and claims.
Treasurer Rebecca Bernard asked the board to extinguish delinquent taxes for 2008 and 2009 on two parcels (150093470 and 150033842) as allowed by statute; the commissioners voted unanimously to approve striking those taxes.
The board also approved the minutes of the Feb. 10, 2026 meeting and claims as submitted. The meeting record lists a grand total for all claims of $404,369.63 and includes payroll and fund detail lines presented at the meeting.
The commissioners signed the Red Willow Corrections inmate‑housing interlocal agreement as presented and unanimously approved the motion.
Commissioner Jacci Brown reported that Bob Mendenhall intends to resign from the Chase County Community Hospital Board of Trustees effective March 1, 2026. The board voted to appoint Conner Cameron to fill the vacancy effective March 2, 2026 to complete the unexpired term.
Chairman Bernhardt closed business by instructing the clerk to remove 'Courtroom Upgrades' from unfinished business and adjourning the meeting at 9:45 a.m.
