At their Feb. 24 meeting, Chase County commissioners confirmed they will enforce a 48‑hour advance notice requirement for scheduling out‑of‑town Transit medical trips.
Diane Mathews, speaking on behalf of Bob Kohl during open forum, asked the board to reconsider the newly enforced policy requiring 48 hours' notice. Chrisi Davis raised the same concern. The board responded that the requirement is part of the Passenger Handbook under the Transit administration and will be enforced.
The board clarified the county's cancellation policy: cancellations made up to 24 hours in advance are permitted; the county will accept cancellations up to one hour prior to scheduled pickup without penalty. Any cancellation received later than one hour before pickup will be recorded as a No Show and noted in the passenger's record. The board said these scheduling and cancellation procedures apply to both in‑town and out‑of‑town trips.
No formal change to the handbook text was recorded at the meeting; the commissioners indicated the enforcement decision reflects existing policy in the Passenger Handbook.
