Chase County commissioners unanimously approved purchasing the east Sinner's Towing building in Wauneta for $260,000 at their Feb. 24 meeting, moving forward with plans to house Wauneta EMS there.
Commissioner Jacci Brown moved to approve the offer for a 1.7 +/- acre tract in the SE1/4 of 11-5-36; the motion was seconded by Chairman Kurt Bernhardt and passed with Commissioner Billie Muehlenkamp voting yes. Closing is scheduled on or before March 31, 2026. The county will complete a property survey and the final legal description, subject to approval by both buyer and seller.
To expedite the purchase, the board also unanimously authorized Chairman Bernhardt to sign the survey and approve any contingencies related to the real estate transaction.
Derek Russel of AgPro Realty attended the meeting for the Wauneta EMS agenda item. The commissioners did not record further discussion about renovation plans or an estimated project budget during the public meeting.
The board adjourned the item after authorizing the purchase and survey approvals.
