Kanarraville board approves equipment funding, budgets culinary water plan and asks church about selling land

"If we bring in more income, it's not gonna be a problem to take it out of this year," a staff member said. The board approved a motion to pull funds from the current budget if feasible.
The board then discussed a snowplow attachment for the backhoe as a lower-cost alternative to buying a new truck and plow. The attachment was priced at about $18,000; a board member said buying the attachment could avoid purchasing a $60,000 truck and a $20,000 plow. A motion was passed to approve the purchase from next year’s budget, and to approve a deposit from the current public-safety budget if required.
Board members reported discussions with a church representative who said the church owns 3.6 acres and would appraise it before proposing a price. The board discussed options — asking for a smaller parcel rather than the whole property — and the chair said the town has six years left on its current lease for the meeting space. A committee member moved to ask the church about purchasing the land; the motion was seconded and approved.
Separately, the board agreed to pursue county coordination on a transportation study rather than fund a standalone study estimated at roughly $25,000. Members discussed potential on/off ramp impacts and the need to participate in county-led planning so Kanarraville’s concerns are included.
