County-funded listening sessions planned; Kanarraville asked to help publicize parks survey

Robert Louv, the team leader for the Arts, Recreation and Open Space focus group, told the Kanarraville Town Board on Feb. 26 that the group received a Utah State Division of Outdoor Recreation planning-assistance grant to hold listening sessions in small communities across Iron County.
"I'm Robert Louv... as I mentioned, I'm here this evening with our focus team member, Holly, to invite your input and support in promoting attendance by Kanarraville residents at a listening session to be held sometime in March or April," Louv said. He described plans for business-card handouts, 11x17 posters for bulletin boards and a QR code linking residents to a website where they can submit thoughts about parks, recreation and open space.
Board members agreed the town could post materials on its website and help distribute flyers; staff offered to supply the QR code and work with Louv on timing. Louv said sessions will seek input on parks, outdoor recreation opportunities and open space needs, and that the group may hold additional sessions with tribal representatives depending on interest.
The listening sessions are intended to aggregate community priorities that will inform a presentation to county officials and the state Outdoor Recreation Division. Dates, times and exact locations were not finalized during the meeting.
