Oneida County forestry committee approves park maintenance agreement, awards trailer bid, reviews vouchers

At its March 10 meeting the Oneida County Forestry, Land & Recreation Committee approved a range of routine operational items including a park maintenance agreement, an equipment purchase and a vouchers report.

The committee approved the Friends of Townline Lake Park (FTLLP) 2026 maintenance agreement, which delegates basic tasks such as mowing and trash removal to the volunteer group. "This is the annual maintenance agreement to take care of basic maintenance at the park (mowing, trash, etc.)," Nemec said; the motion by Briggs to approve carried unanimously.

Truitt reported staff received three bids for a tilt utility trailer but the low bid from Verne’s did not meet specifications; the committee awarded the contract to Sunset Trailer Sales for $3,948.00 on a unanimous vote.

Staff presented February vouchers totaling $93,557.75, of which $78,543.46 were grant funded or reimbursed expenses. Notable operational costs included $5,438.97 for tree‑marking paint and $3,534.00 for the annual USDA APHIS agreement. Nemec said the February budget report showed no concerns; the committee received the report as informational.

The committee listed future agenda items for the April 14 meeting, including timber sale bids, a Forestry Director performance review, a WCFA summer tour and a proposed Luber Lane cell tower lease. Chair Robert Almekinder adjourned the meeting at 9:00 a.m.
