Oneida County approves roof, cooling-tower and other building project bids; OKs training and temporary cleaning hire

During its March 9 meeting, the Oneida County Facilities Committee approved several project awards and personnel items affecting county buildings and operations.
Health & ADRC roof: Buildings and Grounds reported four bids and recommended Nasi Roofing for $62,200, noting Nasi would honor a 40-year manufacturer warranty. Robert Briggs moved to accept the Nasi Roofing bid; Robert Almekinder seconded the motion and the committee voted unanimously to award the work. The project budget is $78,000.
Cooling tower and generator: The committee received updates that the Law Enforcement Center cooling tower replacement was awarded to Tweet‑Garot Mechanical for $234,725; the cooling tower has been ordered and delivery is expected in May, though the department may postpone installation until fall to avoid interrupting jail cooling operations. The Monico tower-site generator installation was awarded to Van Ert Electric Company for $9,475; the generator was ordered from Cummins.
Equipment and fleet: The committee noted a maintenance plow truck was ordered from Brickner Motors Little Chicago for $52,333, with an initial destination fee of $2,095 submitted. Exterior painting for the PH/ADRC facility received no acceptable bids and was deferred for rebidding with a revised budget.
Training and staffing: The committee approved out-of-state travel for two Buildings and Grounds technicians to attend a four-day Southern Folger Detention Equipment Company training session in San Antonio on jail lock mechanisms; the Sheriff will cover training costs. Motion by Billy Fried carried unanimously. The committee also approved an LTE Cleaning Technician position not to exceed 150 hours to support increased PTO usage and an upcoming retirement; Robert Briggs moved the item and the motion carried unanimously.
The committee reviewed the January–February invoice paid report and the fourth-quarter 2025 Workers' Compensation report (one claim). Several items were recorded as informational only; staff will forward Koinonia facility maintenance quotes to the Executive Committee for prioritization.
