Nemec presented the research and the proposed fee structure for private utilities using county forest land. The current staff proposal would eliminate the renewal fee and set an initial fee of $5,000 plus $1 per foot, or a $500 minimum, whichever is greater. "After further research, Nemec is proposing to eliminate the renewal fee structure and increase the initial fee," the record shows.
Motion by Chair Robert Almekinder directed staff to send the proposal to Charter Spectrum to see whether the company accepts the terms; the motion passed unanimously. The committee did not adopt a final county ordinance at the meeting and left acceptance contingent on Charter Spectrum's response.
The proposal, if accepted, would increase up‑front revenue for the county for private utility placements on county forest land; staff will return with any acceptance or negotiations and follow up at a future meeting.
