CVB reports accreditation reaffirmed; county approves FY2027 hotel/motel tax split

Annie Humes, director of the Pendleton County Convention and Visitors Bureau, presented the CVB’s annual report to the Commission on March 3, reporting steady growth in the county lodging industry and noting $3,000 in photography work obtained through the Mon Forest Towns program.
Humes said the CVB received reaffirmation of its accreditation with a score of 119 out of 132 possible points and is in compliance with the State of West Virginia through 2028. She asked the Commission for continued financial support as the CVB moves toward greater independence.
Separately during the meeting, on a motion by Commissioner Jimmie Bennett the board unanimously adopted the Hotel/Motel FY2027 Resolution. The resolution stipulates that 50% of hotel/motel tax collected will go to the CVB and the remaining 50% will be divided equally between the County Fireman’s Association and the County Ambulance Authority.
The minutes show the CVB report and the tax‑distribution resolution were both presented and approved at the March 3 meeting; no dollar amounts for the county contribution to the CVB were specified in the public record.
