Houghton County clerk reprimanded during work session after raising staff-pay concern; Deputy Finance Manager position moved to next agenda

Chairman Tom Tikkanen interrupted Clerk Kelly and, according to the transcript, reprimanded her and Sara Huuki for their comments. The Board did not take formal action on the personnel matter during the work session.
Separately, Commissioner Glenn Anderson said the Tri-County Public Defender issues have not been resolved correctly in the past and have cost the county thousands of dollars; the Board agreed to defer discussion and move the Deputy Finance Manager item to a future meeting for additional consideration. No hiring or pay decisions were made at the work session.
