NextEra says initial Sioux County wind phase could run by end of 2025, company reports 65,000 acres leased

Levy and his team said NextEra's initial objective is to have the first phase operating by the end of 2025 with roughly 100 to 106 towers. County Road Superintendent Jim Phipps will coordinate with NextEra on a road plan for construction and access, the company said. The board's minutes record that NextEra is also working with landowners to locate turbine sites.
Commissioners and county staff treated the update as informational; no final approvals or zoning changes were recorded in the minutes during the referenced meetings. NextEra's presentation was described as part of ongoing outreach, with permitting and final design to be completed before any construction begins.
