The Sioux County Board of Commissioners adopted the county budget for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2012, on Sept. 4, 2012, approving a Property Tax Request of $750,000 and a proposed tax rate of 0.1928.
Commissioner Kevin Lotton moved to approve the Resolution of Adoption and Appropriations and Josh Skavdahl seconded; the motion passed on a roll call vote with Lotton and Skavdahl voting yes. The budget document the commissioners adopted authorizes appropriations to county offices and programs for the year and identifies sources of financing including unencumbered cash balances, non-tax revenues and the tax levy.
The resolution states the adopted budget covers the fiscal year July 1, 2012 through June 30, 2013 and directs offices and activities to expend only the appropriated amounts. The board also approved an additional one percent increase in the base limitation of restricted funds by roll call vote.
The adoption followed the required public budget hearing held at the Sept. 4 meeting during which the board reviewed proposed appropriations and levy calculations. The clerk’s office will maintain the adopted budget document for public inspection.
No modifications to the adopted property tax request were recorded at the meeting. The board indicated the budget will be used to fund core county services, transfers between funds (including transfers to Road & Bridge and Library funds) and planned appropriations for routine operations.
