Sioux County approves purchase of used John Deere grader and other road procurements

The board approved financing through Deere Credit with two annual payments of $81,921.66 and authorized the chairman to sign the financing agreement.
Road department business during 2017 also included awarding gravel-crushing bids (Kustom Rock Crushing awarded the contract), approving purchases and maintenance items, authorizing hiring or reclassification of road staff, and adding specific heavy equipment to the surplus list for public sale when appropriate.
Why it matters: the grader purchase is a capital expenditure intended to support road maintenance across the county’s extensive rural road network; financing terms and accepted bids were recorded in the public minutes.
What’s next: the county will take delivery of the grader under the financing arrangement and continue to manage road staffing and procurement needs through its monthly meetings.
