The Sioux County Board of Commissioners adopted the county budget for fiscal year July 1, 2024–June 30, 2025 at a public hearing on September 23, 2024 in Harrison.
By motion, the board approved the budget document, authorized appropriations to county offices and activities for the fiscal year, and set a property tax request in the amount of $1,555,333.33, producing a proposed tax rate of 0.212090. The motions were recorded by roll call (J.W. Geiser and Hal Downer voted to approve the budget and related motions at the September 23 hearing).
During the same meeting the board adopted Resolution 2024‑6, a statement that Sioux County “does not have laws, ordinances, regulations, resolutions, policies, or other practices that obstruct immigration enforcement” and that the county’s policy is to cooperate with federal authorities, including Immigration and Customs Enforcement. The resolution says the county is not, and has not been, a “Sanctuary County.”
The public hearing saw no public speakers. A copy of the adopted budget and the resolutions are available at the Sioux County Clerk’s Office. The county clerk, Michelle Zimmerman, is the budget‑making authority and is responsible for public inspection of the budget documents and related materials.
