Band Booster seeks city support and HOA asks about taking over Springview streets; council requests engineer review

Speakers during the public comment portion of the Sept. 12 meeting raised two community requests. Michael Spence, president of the Moody Band Booster, asked the council for additional funding to purchase equipment and support new programs for the Moody Band. Mayor Joe Lee said the 2022–23 budget would allow additional funding and advised Spence to contact Council Member Nick Rutledge to arrange a meeting with the finance committee.
Brenda Reid, representing the Springview Subdivision HOA, asked the city to take over streets and sidewalks in Springview. Mayor Lee said the City Engineer will inspect the streets and provide a letter describing the improvements required to bring them up to city standards. City Attorney James Hill advised the HOA must submit a petition before the city can accept any street and noted that the city does not maintain sidewalks.
The council did not take formal action on either request at the meeting; both matters were directed to staff for follow-up.
