Council action included approving payment of $636 to Virtual Academy for online training and authorizing advertising for a yearly part‑time school resource officer post. The council approved attendance for Tim Senft and Sheri Green at the AMCCMA annual conference (Sept. 21–24) with a total cost not to exceed $3,680, of which $1,680 is to be paid by the Judicial Admin Fund and $2,000 by the city. On equipment and maintenance, the council approved a renewal with HID Global Corporation for service, maintenance and software updates for the Guardian Device (fingerprint machine) at $1,944 (budgeted to 523‑4800). The council approved a $540 yearly alarm‑monitoring contract for the fire pumps with Automatic Fire Systems and a $3,708 yearly service on two diesel engines (belts, hoses and piping) with the same vendor. The council also approved purchasing an UpCodes subscription for the inspections division ($396), wireless radio headsets for frontline apparatus from Set Com ($14,158.89, funded by the 2‑mil tax), repairs to Engine E‑1 front brakes and the E‑2 primer pump with vendor EEP ($1,200), winter uniform items from PTS Promotions ($1,100), and repair of the Kubota Z‑Turn by Fouts Tractor ($1,200). Those motions were moved and seconded by council members and carried unanimously.
Library staff requested and received approval to renew the OverDrive e‑book subscription at $3,000 (budgeted to Subscriptions/Periodicals/Books). The council also approved registering with GrantWatch at $200 (Mayor and Council Grant Writer line 01‑510‑1300).
On legal and settlement matters, the council approved Resolution R2022‑08‑22 authorizing the City of Moody to join the State of Alabama and other local governments as participants in the Janssen opioid settlement. Council Member Matt Morris moved the resolution, which passed unanimously. The council likewise approved Resolution R2022‑08‑22A to join the McKesson opioid settlement; that resolution was moved by Council Member Ellis Key and passed unanimously. The resolutions were presented as authorizations to participate; the texts and any distribution or use of settlement funds were not detailed at the meeting.
The council approved hiring Amia Duke as a part‑time Senior Center aide at $10.00 an hour; the motion to hire was moved by Council Member Matt Morris and seconded by Nick Rutledge, and the measure carried unanimously.
