Ed Atcheson of the Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness briefed the Madison Parish Police Jury on Feb. 23 about potential FEMA assistance and reimbursement for debris cleanup related to Winter Storm Fern and said a follow-up meeting with consultants from Hunt, Guillot & Associates would be scheduled.
Atcheson also requested a change in the siting of a generator: moving one unit from the Village of Delta to the Madison Voluntary Council on Aging (MVCOA) because the MVCOA serves elderly residents and stores food supplies. Mr. Hicks moved to approve the site change and Mr. Wilson seconded; a roll call vote recorded unanimous approval from the five district members and the motion carried.
The FEMA status was described as a potential qualification for assistance and reimbursement; no award amount or timeline was reported. The generator relocation was approved by roll call, and the jury’s action will allow project planners to proceed with procurement and siting work consistent with the approved change.
