Woodson County commissioners approve payments, authorize chair to sign BUILD grant forms

Assistant Road & Bridge Supervisor Todd Green, joined by Carey Spoon by phone, asked the board to sign documents related to a BUILD Grant. The requested documents included a letter of support, the SF-424 financial form that contains the grant budget, and an anti-lobbying certification. Commissioner Kevin Stuber moved to allow the chair to sign the SF-424 and the letter of support; Commissioner Justin Clark seconded and the motion passed.
Solid Waste Supervisor David Waddell reported the county had received a KDHE permit. Waddell said he will consult the County Counselor about the operation plan before approving operational changes, that Road & Bridge staff have assisted with work around the burn pile area, and that he will check the status of a backhoe the county ordered.
County Clerk Amanda A. DeWitt told the board she has applied for a HAVA security grant through the Secretary of State's office. EM/EMS Supervisor John Atkin reported no updates. Detective Jim Cude said the sheriff and undersheriff were attending a conference this week.
Commissioner Kevin Stuber gave an update on a community sound system project with Shepard Farms; no funding or timeline were specified in the meeting record.
