Moody City Council unanimously approves routine equipment purchases, training and curb-ramp resolution

The Moody City Council met July 25, 2022, and unanimously approved a slate of routine procurement and training requests presented by city staff and accepted a state project resolution for curb ramp installations.
Mayor Joe Lee called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. and roll call showed Mayor Joe Lee and Council Members Linda Crowe, Lynn Taylor, Nick Rutledge, and Ellis Key present; Matt Morris was absent. Council Member Lynn Taylor moved to approve the published agenda; the motion carried unanimously.
Thomas Hunt presented several police-department purchases. Council approved the purchase of two Nikon D3500 cameras from Best Buy for $1,400 (budgeted to item 513-2503); payment of $550 to St. Clair County for transportation of a deceased body (budgeted to 513-3000); ammunition from Gulf States Distributors for $1,105 (budgeted to 513-5003); and four THI evidence kits from Sirchie for $1,897.97 (budgeted to 513-5003). Each motion was made and seconded by council members and carried by unanimous vote of those present.
Larry Horton presented requests for the fire and emergency services. The council approved sending Fire Inspector James Mulkey to an Inspector III class (September 12–16, 2022) and FF/Paramedic Brandon Garner to a Vehicle and Machinery Extrication class (October 24–28, 2022), each at a cost of $350 (budgeted to 01-514-1500). The council also approved service and maintenance for two Stryker heart monitors for $3,240 (budgeted to 01-514-2504), a medical-supplies purchase from Boundtree Medical for $3,250 (budgeted to 01-514-5200), and a Pollard hydrant test kit from Pollard Water for $925 (budgeted to 01-514-5500). All were approved by unanimous vote of those present.
Mayor Lee asked the council to reimburse St. Clair County for traffic light poles at Highway 411 and Park Avenue; Council Member Linda Crowe moved to approve, and the motion passed unanimously. The council also accepted the Standard Project Resolution and plans for project CRPNU-NR13(934) to install curb ramps on specified state routes in Blount and St. Clair counties; Council Member Ellis Key moved to accept the resolution and plans, and the motion carried unanimously.
The meeting adjourned at 6:06 p.m. on a motion by Mayor Lee. The minutes were later attested by Melissa Fraser.
