Owosso DDA hears EV charging, committee and event updates; sponsorships renewed
Summary
Staff reported EV charging station revenue after cable conversion, committees outlined promotion and organization plans including ticket sales and a July scavenger hunt, and staff announced sponsorship renewals and upcoming events.
At the Feb. 4, 2026 meeting of the Owosso Main Street & Downtown Development Authority, staff member Lizzie Fredrick presented January financial reports and electric vehicle (EV) charging station metrics following a cable conversion.
Fredrick reported that NACS cables replaced CHAdeMO cables on the EV charging stations on Dec. 17, 2025. Revenue from NACS users in January totaled $146.95; CHAdeMO cable usage generated $144.98 in 2025. Fredrick said at least six NACS cable users charged a combined 11 times in January, and six CHAdeMO users charged a combined 20 times in 2025.
Committee updates covered Promotion, Organization, Economic Vitality and Design. Fredrick said the Glow Owosso Committee has approximately $1,000 remaining for 2026 event expenses. Commissioner Karen Parzych presented plans for a storefront scavenger hunt in July and reported 56 of 350 Chocolate Walk tickets were purchased in the first four days. Parzych said the Organization Committee will now meet on the third Friday of each month and is discussing recruiting a high‑school student committee member. Vice‑Chair Lance Omer announced Kori Shook & Associates as the February Business of the Month and provided updates on the Match on Main Grant Program; he noted a $200,000 loan application was not recommended for funding by the Revolving Loan & Grant Program.
Fredrick thanked sponsors Karen Parzych (Dort Financial Credit Union) and Josh Ardelean (CLH Insurance Agency) for renewing annual sponsorships, and reminded the board of upcoming events: Match on Main Grant Info Session (Feb. 10), Curwood Festival Grant Acceptance (Feb. 11), and Volunteer Appreciation Party (Feb. 19). She confirmed the 2026 Michigan Main Street Community Support Service will be 'Business Recruitment & Property Development Primer.'
No public comment was recorded at the meeting. The board adjourned at 8:44 A.M.
