Sioux County planning commission approves parcel splits and accepts long-time member’s resignation
Summary
Between May and June 2024 the planning commission approved two recorded exemptions to split parcels (Clapp and Sprock) and accepted the resignation of long-serving member Howard Willey.
At its May 29, 2024 meeting the Sioux County Planning Commission approved Recorded Exemption #2024-2 submitted by Adam and Sue Clapp to split 15.63 acres from an existing parcel in Sections 19 and 30, Township 24, Range 54. The motion to approve was made by Jim Phipps, seconded by Cynthia Kaan; the roll-call vote in the minutes was recorded as all yes.
On June 26, 2024 the commission approved Recorded Exemption #2024-3, an application by Liz Sprock to divide a 298.87-acre parcel into four tracts. The motion by Howard Willey, seconded by Cynthia Kaan carried on roll call (Phipps yes; Willey yes; Kaan yes; Skavdahl yes). The minutes also record that the commission accepted, with regret, Howard Willey’s resignation and thanked him for his service since the board’s inception.
These recorded-exemption approvals are ministerial land-record actions reflected in the commission minutes. The minutes do not indicate outstanding conditions attached to those approvals beyond the motions recorded.
