Sioux County approves Viaero Wireless 150-foot tower permit

The Sioux County Board of Commissioners, acting as the Board of Equalization, unanimously approved a conditional-use permit on Feb. 1, 2017, to allow NE Colorado Cellular, Inc., doing business as Viaero Wireless, to build a 150-foot self-supporting broadband tower in Section 34, Township 24, Range 58 in Sioux County.
Chairman Josh Skavdahl opened the public hearing and said no members of the public were present to comment. Rick Bailey of NE Colorado Cellular explained the company's assessment of county cell coverage and the need for additional broadband infrastructure to improve service across rural areas of the county. After discussion, Commissioner J.W. Geiser moved to approve the permit; Commissioner Hal Downer seconded the motion. On roll-call vote Geiser, Downer and Skavdahl voted yes and the motion carried.
The board's action authorizes the tower and associated fenced equipment yard subject to the terms of the conditional-use permit as presented. The public hearing record shows no substantive opposition and no conditions beyond standard permit requirements were recorded. The board closed the hearing at 1:05 p.m.
