Sioux County board approves 2,892-acre conservation easement along White River

The Sioux County Board of Equalization approved a conservation easement covering 2,892 acres along the White River on June 1, 2020.
Dave Sands of The Nebraska Land Trust, appearing by telephone on behalf of landowners Jack and Marie Kreman, presented the agreement and told the board the easement covers 2,892 acres and had been reviewed previously by the county planning commission, which recommended approval. The board voted to accept the easement following that presentation.
The easement was approved on a motion by Commissioner J.W. Geiser, seconded by Commissioner Hal Downer. Commissioners Geiser, Downer and Chairman Joshua Skavdahl recorded unanimous “yes” votes on the roll call.
County officials said the agreement and related protest or approval documents will be filed in the property record files maintained by the Sioux County Clerk’s Office. No further public testimony or conditions were recorded in the meeting minutes.
The board adjourned following routine county business. The action places the Kreman property under permanent conservation restrictions recorded with the county; the easement and supporting documentation are on file with the County Clerk.
