Council revokes Pharaoh Smoke’s business license after hearing on unlicensed tobacco sales

City Attorney James Hill told the council that, under Ordinance M2007-09-10C, the council could revoke a business license where a licensee sold regulated products without the correct state or city license. Hill reviewed the ordinance’s revocation and appeal procedures before the council considered the matter.
Officer Reece Smith and Officer Jim Headley addressed the council and described the events that led the city to recommend revocation. After the city’s presentation, legal counsel Brandon Gilham, representing the licensee Pharaoh Smoke (VAP, CBD and PHO), apologized for his client’s oversight and said the business had begun the process of obtaining appropriate licensing.
Council Member Lynn Taylor moved to revoke the business license; the motion was seconded by Council Member Linda Crowe and carried by unanimous vote.
The action revokes Pharaoh Smoke’s current business license; the council’s motion and the city attorney’s recitation of facts are recorded under Ordinance M2007-09-10C.
