Moody City Council approved a $55,000 amendment to the 2021–2022 city budget to cover fire department salaries, payroll taxes, retirement and benefits at a special meeting Dec. 21. Council Member Lynn Taylor introduced the budget change and moved its approval; Council Member Linda Crowe seconded and all present voted AYE.
The council also approved adjustments to sick-time accrual rates and schedules for full-time city employees that will be incorporated into the City of Moody Policy and Procedures Manual. Taylor moved the personnel-policy change; Council Member Nick Rutledge seconded the motion, and the council voted unanimously to adopt the update.
Both items were handled on the consent-type portion of the special meeting and drew no recorded debate in the meeting minutes. The motions were recorded as unanimous: Mayor Joe Lee and Council Members Linda Crowe, Lynn Taylor, Matt Morris, Nick Rutledge and Ellis Key were listed as voting AYE on the approved agenda and the two substantive items.
Mayor Joe Lee moved to close the meeting at 5:03 p.m., stating there was no further business; the minutes were later attested by City Clerk Tracy L. Patterson on Jan. 10, 2022.
What the actions mean: the budget amendment provides a one-time allocation of $55,000 to cover payroll-related costs for the fire department in the current fiscal year; the sick-time changes update how full-time employees accrue leave and will be reflected in the city’s personnel manual. The minutes do not specify details of the new accrual rates or whether the budget amendment draws from a particular fund, and they do not record further discussion or dissent.
