Moody Council approves routine purchases, contracts and projects; adopts resolution and funds telework upgrades

At its Feb. 14 meeting, the Moody City Council approved a slate of routine departmental requests and one resolution affecting Moody Industrial Park.
Police requests approved on motion included a Cellebrite annual subscription ($6,775), travel to FBI training for Lt. Hicks ($369.70), a partial-year ammunition purchase from Gulf States ($1,095), new tires for vehicle #348 ($873), posting a part-time police clerk position, Chief Thomas Hunt’s conference attendance ($700) and renewal of LeadsOnline ($2,370.03). These items were moved and seconded by council members and passed by unanimous vote.
Library and public-service approvals included renewal of the Book Systems Atriuum circulation system ($2,285), purchase of a new desktop computer for the Civic Center manager ($1,017.66) and various public-works and fire-department maintenance and equipment requests (floor cleaning at Whites Chapel Community Center $1,000; Public Works dump truck repair $2,700; breathing-air compressor service $860; pump processor replacement $6,968.03; equipment divider fabrication $3,200; cleaning supplies $725). Mike Staggs presented the restroom remodel project for the rear park not to exceed $25,500; the council approved the capital request.
Council Member Linda Crowe won approval to purchase 60th Anniversary banners for the city (not to exceed $800) and to use American Rescue Plan Act funds (not to exceed $5,000) for telework and workplace-safety upgrades in the City Hall downstairs conference room (monitors/TV, computer, software, network and remodeling). Mayor Joe Lee introduced Resolution R2022-02-14 establishing fire-protection services fees for the Moody Industrial Park; City Attorney James Hill reviewed the text and the council adopted the resolution on unanimous vote.
The council also approved a $3,350 survey of city property on Carl Jones Road behind Publix (City Engineer Keith Hager) and formally closed the meeting at 7:17 p.m. Routine minutes from prior meetings were approved with recorded abstentions on earlier items where noted in the minutes.
