Moody council approves routine purchases, trainings and ARPA school agreement in unanimous votes

Moody — The Moody City Council on Jan. 24 approved a series of routine purchases, training authorizations, equipment acquisitions and an American Rescue Plan Act agreement with the St. Clair County Board of Education, with all motions carried unanimously by those present.
The meeting opened at 6:00 p.m. Mayor Joe Lee noted that Lynn Taylor and Matt Morris were absent. On a motion by Council Member Linda Crowe, seconded by Council Member Nick Rutledge, the council approved the published agenda.
Council action included approval of repairs to Civic Center weight‑room equipment (vendor: FDR Services; $427, budgeted to Maintenance 01‑526‑2504) and an extension of front‑desk and janitorial/maintenance job postings through February 2023. The council authorized payment of $400 to TAASRO for a Safe Schools Conference and approved SRO Officer Etheredge’s attendance at the TAASRO conference in Orange Beach in June 2022 at a cost not to exceed $1,500.
On public‑safety equipment, the council approved purchase of a speed trailer (vendor MPH Industries) equipped with a Flock camera system for $8,479 (Capital Outlay 513‑9900), two handheld radios ($1,825, vendor WEAL LED), and $1,500 in miscellaneous uniform items. The council also approved declaring a 2012 Dodge Charger (VIN 2C3CDXAT1CH278977) surplus.
Fire Department items approved included sending James Mulkey to the Fire Marshals Spring Conference in Guntersville ($800) and budgeted purchases of medical supplies from Bound Tree Medical ($3,000) and Combat Medical ($2,900), plus $1,100 for uniform supplies from Galls.
The council approved an American Rescue Plan Act agreement between the City of Moody and the St. Clair County Board of Education related to R2021‑08‑23D (COVID‑19 Public Health Emergency Grant to schools). Motions across the agenda were moved and seconded by council members (recorded movers include Linda Crowe, Nick Rutledge and Ellis Key) and carried unanimously among those present.
Mayor Lee moved to close the meeting at 6:15 p.m.; the minutes were noted as approved on Feb. 14, 2022.
