VIDOR — The VIDOR ISD Board of Trustees voted Feb. 2 to approve a budget amendment and transfers to address an MOE shortfall for special education in the 2023‑24 school year.
Dr. Maynes told the board that staffing vacancies in 2023‑24 reduced the district’s special‑education salary expenditures and left the district short of the required maintenance‑of‑effort threshold. "When the original report came out, we were about 450,000 short of our MOE, and we worked with our consultant and offset some of those costs...the funds that we're gonna have to send back are approximately $174,000," Dr. Maynes said.
A trustee moved to approve the budget amendment and transfers, and the motion carried by voice vote, 5‑0, with two trustees absent. Board minutes show the amendment was approved to ensure the district meets state maintenance‑of‑effort requirements for special education.
