A trustee asked why the policy language allows a team to serve more than one campus, arguing that a campus-specific crisis team fosters stronger relationships and trust with students. A district staff member responded that state rules permit a single district team but that Harmony currently staffs a crisis team at each campus. The staff member explained that when campuses are colocated (for example elementary, middle and high campuses adjacent to each other), a shared team can provide continuity and historical knowledge about students who progress through grade levels.
Following clarification, a trustee moved to approve the revised HPS 1.2 policy; the motion was seconded and the board voted in favor.
The board did not change the policy language on the record; staff said the current practice is that most campuses maintain their own crisis-response teams even though the policy allows shared teams in specific circumstances.
