Taylor County appraiser briefs Abilene ISD on certified values and Lansium/Oracle data-center valuation

Gary Earnest, chief appraiser for the Taylor County Appraisal District, presented the district’s certified values and addressed the large Lansium (Lancium) data center project that includes Oracle as a leaseholder.
Earnest said certified totals for Taylor County were released and described potential impacts of a local ballot measure on net certified values. He described Lansium’s two-building project at roughly 41% complete, with each building made up of four wings, and provided valuation figures certified for 2025: approximately $196,000,000 in real property assessment for the current completion level and separate mechanical/electrical/plumbing/personal property assessments (personal-property figures discussed as separate and subject to a later on-site review and possible protest by Oracle).
He explained the appraisal timeline (benchmark date Jan. 1) and noted an on-site meeting with Oracle scheduled in December to review personal property and server rack installations; Oracle, like any taxpayer, has the right to protest values. Earnest said appeals and value protests are a normal part of the appraisal process and described tools the appraisal district uses to audit and certify market values.
