Trustees review final contract amendment for Hayes Elementary renovations; bond savings to cover overage

Lisa Casman, executive director of facilities planning and construction, said the first amendment had allowed procurement of long‑lead items; the second amendment completes the work necessary to finish the project. Trustees asked how much bond‑authorization savings remain and how the district tracks the accumulation and allocation of those savings across projects.
Administration said Proposition A project savings totaled about $24.6 million through November and that savings have been used on other projects; management noted that some individual projects come under budget while others have overages. The construction report and the district website provide project‑level reporting and a proposition‑by‑proposition breakdown, administration said, and staff offered to provide a line‑item tally of how bond savings have been applied by bond and proposition.
Trustees emphasized the need for transparency when project savings are repurposed and asked staff to make that reporting readily accessible to the public.
