Bremer County meeting roundup: tax suspensions, service contracts and routine approvals
Summary

The Bremer County Board of Supervisors on June 4 handled a series of routine items and two administrative resolutions:
• Resolution No. 24-39: The board directed the Treasurer to suspend collection of taxes, special assessments and other charges for tax year 2023 on Parcels 0523100005 and 0133200014 after eligibility was verified by the Iowa Department of Human Services under Iowa Code Section 427.9 for recipients of federal or state supplementary payments or residents of DHS-funded health care facilities. Supervisor Kammeyer moved and Supervisor Hildebrandt seconded; the resolution was adopted unanimously.
• Service agreements: The board authorized the Chair to sign a General Service Agreement with Northeast Iowa Community Action Corporation for FY25 services and a contract between Bremer County Community Based Services and the Iowa Northland Regional Council of Governments for FY25 transportation services. Kammeyer moved to authorize the Chair to sign the NEICA agreement and Hildebrandt seconded; similar motion and second approved the transportation contract.
• Personnel and claims: The board approved a vacation carryover request from Sue Lahr, Community Based Services Director, and authorized payment of an IPERS contribution payment of $125.26 that will be reimbursed by a former employee.
• Administrative items and updates: The board received committee updates (including an Opioid Task Force report and a Northeast Iowa Community Action meeting) and heard staff meetings regarding potential locations for a customer convenience center and a secondary roads shed; the meetings were informational and no formal action was recorded.
All listed actions were approved unanimously unless otherwise noted in the minutes. The meeting adjourned at 11:20 a.m.
